A CONTEMPORARY ARTIST
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Born and raised in a small town north of Prescott, Arizona, southwest culture and art have certainly inspired Shannon Macey’s artwork, both in patterns and color schemes. Her detailed paintings have been described as looking like hand painted woven tapestries.
Macey has always considered herself an artist, taking every art class in school she had access to, and painting for recreation when time allowed. But, as so accurately stated by Pablo Picasso, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” Macey, too grew away from her art, only re-discovering her passion while living abroad in South Korea. After a particularly long and lonely winter on a small island, she found that painting was the best way to find peace while being so isolated from friends, family, and even other foreigners.
These detailed, mosaic styled pieces are painted with acrylic paint on canvas. Each piece takes between 100 and 300 hours to produce, depending on the size and detail of the piece. Please enjoy, and feel free to reach out to Macey with any inquiries.
